Ford Redundant F-250 Recall 19V688: Rear axle may break, causing loss of drive and rollaway risk

NHTSA campaign 19V688, reported September 30, 2019, 28,579 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain trucks have a passenger-side rear axle shaft that may fail early because of a material problem. A broken axle can cause a loss of drive power and leave the vehicle unable to hold still in Park. If the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle can move unintentionally, which raises the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify affected owners, and authorized dealers will inspect the passenger-side rear axle shaft and replace it if needed. The inspection and any replacement are free of charge. Owners can also contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall 19S31.

Until the repair is done, always apply the parking brake when parking, and check your VIN for open recalls at your dealer or through the NHTSA website.
