- Problem
- Temsa Global Sanayi Ve Ticaret A.S. (Temsa) is recalling 2013-2020 certain TS35C, TS35E and TS45 buses. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 217, "Bus Emergency Exits and Window Retention and Release."
- Risk
- Delays in opening emergency exits can increase the risk of an injury in the event of an emergency.
- Remedy
- Temsa will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the labels, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began October 16, 2019. Owners may contact Temsa customer service at 1-407-271-8935.
- Notes
- Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
What this recall means for you
Some Temsa TS35C, TS35E and TS45 buses may have emergency exit window instructions that do not clearly explain how to quickly open the push-out windows. This means the buses do not fully meet federal bus emergency exit requirements.
If the instructions are hard to follow, passengers and drivers could take longer to get out during an emergency, which raises the risk of injury.
Owners will be notified by Temsa. Authorized dealers will inspect the labels and replace them where needed, at no cost to the owner. Owners can contact Temsa customer service at 1-407-271-8935, and can check their vehicle identification number for any open recalls.
