Chevrolet Express Recall 19V644: Seatbelt Warning Light May Delay, Raising Crash Injury Risk

NHTSA campaign 19V644, reported September 6, 2019, 91,399 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The seatbelt-unfastened warning light may not turn on for about five seconds after the ignition is switched on or started. Because the reminder is delayed, the driver may forget to buckle up, and the vehicle does not meet the federal occupant crash protection standard (FMVSS 208).

Without the prompt reminder, an unbelted driver or passenger faces a greater risk of injury if a crash occurs.

The repair is free. General Motors will notify owners, and authorized dealers will reprogram the instrument panel cluster at no charge. Owners can contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, and can check their VIN for any open recalls.
