Mini Cooper Recall 19V634: Missing Rear Crash Pad Raises Side-Crash Injury Risk

NHTSA campaign 19V634, reported August 28, 2019, 683 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2020 MINI Hardtop 2-Door Cooper, Cooper S, and JCW vehicles may have had their rear side trim panels assembled without a crash pad. As a result, the vehicles do not meet federal side impact protection requirements (FMVSS 214).

If the vehicle is involved in a side-impact crash, rear seat passengers face a higher risk of injury because the crash pad that should be in place is missing.

MINI will notify affected owners, and MINI dealers will install the crash pads free of charge. Owners can also call MINI customer service at 1-866-825-1525, and should check their VIN for any open recalls.
