Ford Fusion Recall 19V590: Front seat belts may fail in a crash, raising injury risk

NHTSA campaign 19V590, reported August 12, 2019, 103,374 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2015 vehicles may have a front seat belt anchor cable that can fail after the seat belt pretensioner deploys in a crash. The heat from deployment can weaken the cable, so it may not properly restrain the front seat occupants.

A failed seat belt anchor cable cannot properly restrain front seat occupants, which increases the risk of injury in a crash. This recall expands an earlier recall, 16V-875.

The repair is free. Ford will notify owners, and an authorized dealer will apply a protective coating to the seat belt cable at no charge. You can check your VIN for open recalls and contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332, citing recall 19S25.
