Vanleigh Vilano Recall 19V588: Rear suspension shackle can fail, risking loss of control

NHTSA campaign 19V588, reported August 12, 2019, 1,808 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Vanleigh Beacon and Vilano fifth wheel recreational trailers from model years 2015 through 2018 may have rear suspension shackles that are too short. Over time, the shackle can fail, which may cause the trailer to lose control.

A shackle failure can lead to a loss of control while towing, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should take this recall seriously, especially if the trailer is in regular use on the road.

Vanleigh will notify affected owners. Authorized dealers will replace the existing shackles with longer ones at no cost to you. To check whether your trailer is included, look up your VIN for open recalls, and you can contact Vanleigh customer service at 1-662-612-4040 for more information.
