- Problem
- Prevost Cars, Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain 2017-2020 X3-45 Coach, Commuter, VIP, and VIP Entertainer buses, and H3-45 Coach and VIP buses. Under certain conditions, such as high altitude and heavy climbing, the engine may overheat and shutdown.
- Risk
- If the engine unexpectedly shuts down, passengers may have to be transferred to another vehicle on the side of the road, increasing the risk of an injury. If the engine unexpectedly shuts down while the vehicle is in motion, there is an increased risk of crash.
- Remedy
- Prevost will notify owners and will update the engine software, free of charge. The recall began December 19, 2019. Owners may contact Prevost customer service at 1-866-870-2046.

What this recall means for you
Certain 2017-2020 Prevost X3-45 and H3-45 buses may have an engine that overheats and shuts down under certain conditions, such as high altitude and heavy climbing. The defect can cause the engine to shut down unexpectedly.
If the engine shuts down while the bus is moving, there is an increased risk of a crash. If it shuts down on the road, passengers may need to be transferred to another vehicle on the roadside, which increases the risk of injury.
Prevost will notify owners and update the engine software at no cost. Owners may contact Prevost customer service at 1-866-870-2046, and can check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
