- Problem
- Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Starcraft Allstar, Allstar XL, and Starlite vehicles equipped with Safe Fleet Prolo Roof Escape hatches. Due to a manufacturing issue, the roof hatch external handle may unexpectedly break under reasonable use.
- Risk
- If the roof hatch external handle breaks, in the event of an emergency, the hatch cannot be easily opened from outside the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury.
- Remedy
- Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will replace the hatch, free of charge. The recall began August 27, 2019. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-800-748-3440. Forest River's number for this recall is 05-1060.

What this recall means for you
The external handle on the roof escape hatch may break during normal use because of a manufacturing problem. If the handle fails, the hatch cannot be easily opened from outside the vehicle, which could trap occupants or make it hard for rescuers to get them out in an emergency.
Owners will be notified by Forest River. The replacement of the roof hatch is free of charge and will be performed by authorized dealers.
