Shasta Phoenix Recall 19V476: Outdoor kitchen outlet may lack shock protection

NHTSA campaign 19V476, reported June 21, 2019, 2,114 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some Coachmen Chaparral, Chaparral Lite, Chaparral X-Lite and Shasta Phoenix recreational trailers from model years 2017 and 2018 may have a standard outlet in the outside kitchen instead of a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) protected outlet. Without GFCI protection, a person using the outdoor kitchen could receive an electrical shock, which can cause injury or death.

The remedy is free. Authorized dealers will replace the standard 110V outlet in the exterior kitchen with a GFCI outlet. Forest River will notify owners, and the recall is expected to begin July 31, 2019. You can contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-825-8360 and reference recall number 110-1035. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your trailer is affected.
