Forest River Cherokee Recall 19V453: Wrong weight label can lead to trailer overloading and crash risk

NHTSA campaign 19V453, reported June 14, 2019, 70 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The federal certification label on certain Cherokee CKT294BH trailers lists incorrect Cargo Carrying Capacity (CCC) and Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) figures. An owner relying on the wrong label may load the trailer beyond its true limits.

An overloaded trailer can lose control, which increases the risk of a crash. Check the label on your trailer and do not rely on its listed capacities until the replacement is installed.

Forest River is providing replacement placards with accurate GVWR and CCC information at no cost. Contact Forest River customer service at 1-541-995-3447 and reference recall number 64-1033. Also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
