Vac-Tron LP 873 SD Recall 19V442: Trailer Lights and Reflectors May Be Missing, Raising Crash Risk at Night

NHTSA campaign 19V442, reported June 11, 2019, 208 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2015-2019 LP 873 SD dual-axle vacuum excavator trailers may lack required front and rear lights, including clearance lamps, reflex reflectors, and side reflex reflectors. They may also have too little reflective tape on the sides and rear. As a result, the trailer may not comply with federal lighting standard FMVSS 108 and may be hard to see at night.

A trailer that cannot be seen in the dark is at greater risk of being struck by other vehicles. Drivers approaching from behind or from the side may not notice it until too late.

The repair is free at an authorized dealer. The dealer will move the marker lights to the compliant position and install a lower chassis extension, conspicuity tape, and reflectors. Owners will be notified by Vac-Tron. You can also contact Vac-Tron customer service at 1-888-822-8766, and check your VIN for open recalls.
