Ford Transit Recall 19V439: Glass Roof Hatch May Shatter, Dropping Fragments

NHTSA campaign 19V439, reported June 11, 2019, 15 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2018-2019 Ford Transit vans that were modified by LA West Inc. with glass roof hatches may have a problem: temperature and vibration stresses can cause the tempered glass hatch to shatter.

If the glass breaks, fragments may fall onto the people inside the vehicle, which increases the risk of injury. Owners should take this seriously, especially if the van carries passengers.

The remedy is free of charge. LA West will notify owners, and dealers will replace the hatch lids at no cost. You can contact LA West customer service at 1-704-498-4940, and you can check your VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your vehicle is included.
