Hino 268 Recall 19V399: Backup camera image can flip, risking a crash

NHTSA campaign 19V399, reported May 29, 2019, 68 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2018 and 2019 Hino 268 and 338 trucks fitted with an ASA Electronics Voyager back-up camera display, the display may unexpectedly revert to its factory default settings. When that happens, the camera image can appear reversed on screen.

A reversed image can lead a driver to steer the wrong way when trying to avoid an object behind the vehicle, which increases the risk of a crash.

The repair is free. ITI Trailers and Truck Bodies, Inc. will work with ASA Electronics to notify affected owners and will provide a harness relay capacitor module to correct the problem. Owners can contact ASA Electronics customer service at 1-800-384-4400 or ITI Trailers and Truck Bodies at 1-814-634-0080. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
