Airstream Base Camp Recall 19V397: Tire placard missing spare tire info; wrong spare could affect control

NHTSA campaign 19V397, reported May 24, 2019, 911 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The tire placard on certain Basecamp trailers does not list the correct information for the trailer's spare tire. Because the placard is incomplete, an owner could unintentionally install a spare tire of the wrong size. The vehicle does not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110 for tire selection and rims.

An incorrect spare tire can affect vehicle control and handling, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should be aware of this risk when choosing or replacing a spare tire.

Airstream will notify owners and provide corrected tire placard labels free of charge. The recall is expected to begin July 23, 2019. You can contact Airstream customer service at 1-877-596-6505 or 1-937-596-6111, extension 7401 or 7411, and you can check your VIN for open recalls.
