Forest River Cherokee Recall 19V355: Incorrect Weight Label Could Lead to Overloading and Crashes

NHTSA campaign 19V355, reported May 10, 2019, 3 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2018-2019 Forest River Cherokee travel trailers may have a Federal Placard, the certification label that lists axle rating, cargo carrying capacity, and tire and wheel combination information, that contains incorrect figures. Because the label may overstate or misstate what the trailer can safely carry, an operator could load it beyond its limits without realizing it.

An overloaded trailer can have reduced stability, which raises the risk of a crash. If you own an affected trailer, check your Federal Placard against the accurate information Forest River provides.

Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will supply replacement placards with the correct information at no charge. You can contact Forest River customer service at 1-260-499-2100, referencing recall 17A-1012, and check your VIN for any open recalls.
