Jaguar I-Pace Recall 19V351: Brake Delay May Increase Stopping Distance and Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 19V351, reported May 9, 2019, 3,083 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

If the electrical regenerative brake system fails, there can be a noticeable delay between when the driver presses the brake pedal and when the vehicle begins to slow down. This means the vehicle does not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 135 for light vehicle brake systems.

The delay increases the distance needed to stop the vehicle, which raises the risk of a crash. Owners should be aware that braking may feel slower than expected if this system fails.

Jaguar will notify owners, and authorized dealers will update the vehicle software to reduce the delay. The repair is free of charge. Owners can contact Jaguar customer service at 1-800-637-6837 and should check their VIN for any open recalls.
