Toyota Yaris Recall 19V319: Side and curtain airbags may fail to deploy in a crash

NHTSA campaign 19V319, reported April 23, 2019, 43,221 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Wiring harnesses for the side airbag sensors inside the front doors can crack and corrode. If that happens, the front seat side airbags and curtain shield airbags may not deploy, or may deploy improperly, when the vehicle is in a crash.

When these airbags do not work as intended, the risk of injury in a crash goes up. Owners should not wait to get this checked.

The repair is free. Toyota will notify owners, and authorized dealers will replace the wire harness assembly in the front doors as necessary at no cost. Owners can also contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371 (recall numbers K1F/K0F), and can check their VIN for any open recalls.
