Chevrolet Trax Recall 19V312: Front Control Arm May Break and Affect Steering

NHTSA campaign 19V312, reported April 18, 2019, 112,958 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A joint in one or both front lower control arms may have been improperly welded. Over time, the weld can break, causing the control arm to partly separate from the vehicle.

If this happens, the front wheel can toe outward, which affects handling and steering and raises the risk of a crash.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the left and right front lower control arms and replace them as needed, at no cost to you. Owners can also call GM customer service at 1-800-222-1020. You can check whether your vehicle has any open recalls by entering its VIN on the NHTSA website.
