ITI Trailers Peterbilt Recall 19V225: Brake lights may light up without the pedal pressed

NHTSA campaign 19V225, reported March 22, 2019, 1 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2018 Peterbilt tanker trucks fitted with Whelen brake lights, the brake lights may come on even when the brake pedal has not been pressed. Depending on how the vehicle's wiring is configured, this can happen. The lights then fail to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 for lamps and reflective devices.

Because brake lights signal that a driver is slowing or stopping, false illumination can confuse other drivers about what your truck is doing. That confusion could increase the risk of a crash.

The remedy is free. ITI Trailers and Truck Bodies, Inc. has notified owners and replaced the lights at no charge. You can contact ITI Trailers and Truck Bodies at 1-814-634-008, and you should check your vehicle's VIN for any open recalls.
