Fouts BROS. F-3000 Recall 19V214: Brake lights may light up without pedal pressed

NHTSA campaign 19V214, reported March 20, 2019, 15 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2017-2018 Fouts Bros fire apparatus with Whelen brake lights may have brake lights that illuminate even when the brake pedal is not pressed. Depending on how the vehicle is wired, the lights can come on when no one is braking. This means the vehicle does not meet federal lighting safety requirements.

When brake lights come on incorrectly, other drivers may think the vehicle is slowing down or stopping when it is not. That confusion can lead them to react poorly, which increases the risk of a crash.

Owners should contact Fouts customer service at 1-800-948-5045 or visit an authorized Fouts service center. The brake lights will be replaced free of charge. The recall began on March 25, 2019. You can also check your vehicle's VIN for any open recalls.
