Forest River Berkshire Recall 19V202: Backup Camera Image Can Flip Backward, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 19V202, reported March 14, 2019, 3,051 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2018-2019 motorhomes, work trucks, and shuttle buses use an ASA Electronics backup mirror-monitor (model VOM74MM). The display can revert to its factory default settings, which reverses the camera image on screen.

If the image appears reversed, the driver may turn the wrong way without realizing it, which increases the risk of a crash.

The repair is free at an authorized dealer, which will install a harness, relay, and capacitor module. Owners should contact Forest River customer service using the number for their vehicle type: 1-574-825-8602 for Orion, Freelander, and Leprechaun; 1-574-522-7599 for Rockport; or 1-574-642-3112 for Berkshire and StarCraft. ASA customer service can be reached at 1-800-384-4400. Forest River's recall number is 51-0980. Check your VIN for open recalls.
