What this recall means for you
Certain fire and emergency apparatus vehicles equipped with Whelen brake lights may have brake lights that illuminate even when the brake pedal is not pressed. This does not meet federal lighting safety requirements.
When brake lights come on incorrectly, other drivers may think the vehicle is slowing or stopping when it is not. That confusion can lead to a rear-end collision or other crash. The manufacturer will notify affected owners, and Whelen will replace the brake lights at no cost. You can also contact Whelen customer service at 1-860-526-4078. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your vehicle is included.
