Maintainer Rescue Recall 19V155: Brake lights may glow without the brake pedal pressed

NHTSA campaign 19V155, reported March 1, 2019, 12 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some brake lights on these vehicles may light up even when the brake pedal has not been pressed. The lights are supposed to signal only when the driver is braking, so this false signal can confuse drivers behind or beside the vehicle.

The mistaken light can make other drivers think you are slowing or stopping when you are not, which could increase the risk of a crash. If you notice your brake lights on while you are driving with your foot off the pedal, treat it as a problem to get checked promptly.

The repair is free. Maintainer will notify owners on how to obtain replacement brake lights at no charge. You can contact Maintainer customer service at 1-800-831-8588 or Whelen customer service at 1-860-718-2331. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls on the NHTSA website.
