Forest River Cherokee Recall 19V085: Wrong Tire Size on Label Could Lead to Unsafe Tire Choice

NHTSA campaign 19V085, reported February 8, 2019, 10 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The certification label (Federal Placard) on certain 2019 Cherokee recreational trailers lists a tire size of ST205/75R15, but these trailers are actually equipped with ST225/75R15 tires. The incorrect label means the trailers do not fully meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110 on tire selection and rims, or the certification requirements in 49 CFR Part 567.

Because the label gives the wrong tire size, an owner could install a tire that is not suitable for the trailer. An inadequate tire increases the risk of a crash.

Forest River is sending owners a new Federal Placard with the correct tire size at no cost. To get yours, contact Forest River customer service at 1-541-644-8072, extension 4022, and reference recall number 64-0948. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
