Lakota Colt Recall 19V080: Wrong tire load data on label can lead to tire failure

NHTSA campaign 19V080, reported February 11, 2019, 300 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2018-2019 Lakota Bighorn, Charger, Colt and Livestock Edition trailers have incorrect tire data listed on the Federal Placard, the label that states the vehicle's load limits. Because of this error, the tires could be overloaded, and the vehicles do not fully meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110 (Tire Selection and Rims) or the certification requirements in 49 CFR Part 567.

If the trailer is loaded up to the limit shown on the incorrect label, the tires could fail, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should avoid loading beyond what the correct tire information allows until the placard is replaced.

Lakota will notify owners, and dealers will install new placards with the correct weight capacity data at no cost. The recall began March 18, 2019. Owners can contact Lakota customer service at 1-574-848-1636, and you can check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
