Stoughton DVW Recall 19V055: Trailer Hitch May Crack and Detach From Tow Vehicle

NHTSA campaign 19V055, reported January 28, 2019, 2,384 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The forward attachment points for the pintle mounting assembly on certain 2016-2019 DVW trailers may crack. If they do, the pintle assembly can separate from the trailer, which means the trailer can detach while being towed.

A trailer that detaches from the tow vehicle raises the risk of a crash. Stop driving the trailer if you notice cracks or any sign that the hitch is loose or damaged, and contact the manufacturer before towing it further.

Stoughton Trailers, LLC will notify owners. Authorized dealers will repair the cracks and reinforce the mounting at no cost to you. The recall began March 25, 2019. You can contact Stoughton customer service at 1-608-873-2580, and you can check your VIN for open recalls.
