Airstream Base Camp Recall 19V024: Incorrect tire pressure label may lead to overinflated tires

NHTSA campaign 19V024, reported January 3, 2019, 189 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The Federal Certification Label and tire placard on certain RVs may list the wrong tire size and pressure. The labels state the vehicle uses 235/55R18 tires needing 80 psi, but the vehicle actually has 235/75R15 tires that need 51 psi. This means the labels do not meet federal tire selection requirements.

If the label is wrong, a driver may inflate the tires far above the correct pressure. Overinflated tires can increase the risk of a crash.

Owners will be sent a new, corrected Federal Certification Label and tire placard at no cost. You can also contact Airstream customer service at 1-877-596-6505 or 1-937-596-6111, extension 7401 or 7411. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
