Arcimoto FUV Recall 18V937: Brake failure could lengthen stopping distance and raise crash risk

NHTSA campaign 18V937, reported December 31, 2018, 2 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2017 vehicles were built with a front/rear split brake system instead of a left/right split brake system. If the front brake system fails, the rear brakes may not be able to stop the vehicle within the minimum distance required by federal motorcycle brake standard FMVSS 122, so the vehicle does not comply with that standard.

When a motorcycle cannot stop within the required distance, the risk of a crash increases. Owners should be aware of this risk and contact the manufacturer promptly.

Arcimoto will replace the existing brake lines with new lines of an updated design, free of charge. Owners can contact Arcimoto customer service at 1-541-683-6293, referencing recall number 7F7-P2S8D-12. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
