Harley-Davidson XG750 Recall 18V927: Brake Calipers May Corrode and Cause Brake Drag

NHTSA campaign 18V927, reported December 21, 2018, 12,871 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Brake calipers on these motorcycles can corrode on the inside after exposure to coastal air or road salt. The corrosion can cause excessive brake drag, meaning the brakes may not release fully and keep some resistance on the wheel even when you are not braking.

Excessive brake drag can increase the risk of a crash. If you ride in coastal areas or where roads are salted in winter, pay attention to any unusual brake feel, heat, or resistance, and have the motorcycle checked promptly if you notice a problem.

Harley-Davidson will install new front and rear brake calipers at no cost through an authorized dealer. Contact Harley-Davidson customer service at 1-800-258-2464 and reference recall 0174, and check your VIN for any open recalls.
