Toyota Tundra Recall 18V900: Load Label May Be Wrong, Risking Overloading and Crashes

NHTSA campaign 18V900, reported December 19, 2018, 280 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some trucks with a spray-in bed liner have a load carrying capacity label that may have been calculated incorrectly. If owners follow the label, the vehicle could be overloaded, which fails to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110 for tire selection and rims.

An overloaded vehicle can increase the risk of a crash. Owners should not rely on the existing label for how much weight the truck can carry until the correction is made.

Toyota is notifying owners and providing corrected load carrying capacity labels free of charge. Owners can contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371 or check their VIN for open recalls, and the repair is free at an authorized dealer.
