What this recall means for you
Certain 2017 and 2018 Dennis Eagle Elite refuse trucks are equipped with a reverse alarm mute switch. Using this switch silences the beeping sound the truck makes when it is in reverse.
The danger is that pedestrians may not realize the truck is backing up when the alarm is muted. This increases the risk of someone being struck and injured while the vehicle is reversing.
If you own one of these trucks, the remedy is free. Dennis Eagle will notify owners, and an authorized dealer will remove the reverse alarm mute switch and install a blanking plate at no charge. Owners can contact Dennis Eagle customer service at 1-813-440-8136 and refer to recall number FSI 1240. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
