Toyota Land Cruiser Recall 18V887: Passenger airbags may be disabled, raising crash injury risk

NHTSA campaign 18V887, reported December 13, 2018, 89,740 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A wire harness in the front passenger seat belt system can break over time. When it breaks, it can deactivate the front passenger airbag, the knee airbag, and the passenger seat-mounted side airbag. If you are in a crash, these airbags may not deploy, which can increase the risk of injury to the front passenger.

Toyota will notify owners, and authorized dealers will modify the front passenger seat belt assembly or replace it with an improved one, as necessary. The repair is free of charge. Owners can contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371 or Lexus customer service at 1-800-255-3987. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls and schedule the repair with a dealer as soon as possible.
