Gillig LOW Floor Recall 18V886: Bus emergency exit may be blocked, delaying escape

NHTSA campaign 18V886, reported December 12, 2018, 30 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2016-2017 Gillig Low Floor transit buses may have an emergency exit window that is difficult to use in an emergency. The window may be obstructed, so the vehicle does not meet federal bus emergency exit requirements.

If the exit is hard to reach or open, passengers may not be able to leave the bus quickly during a crash, fire, or other emergency, which increases the risk of injury.

Gillig will notify owners, and an authorized dealer will move one of the emergency exit windows to an unobstructed location at no cost to you. Contact Gillig customer service at 1-510-264-5073 or 1-800-735-1500, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
