Oshkosh S-Series Recall 18V858: Fuel Valve May Eject and Release CNG, Risking Injury or Fire

NHTSA campaign 18V858, reported December 3, 2018, 199 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain McNeilus and Oshkosh S-Series trucks from model years 2016 to 2018 have a CNG fuel tank valve, the MPVE-250 One-Turn Valve, that can fail if its knob is turned more than one full turn. When this happens, a snap ring may break and the valve stem can forcibly eject from the valve body.

The ejected stem can injure people nearby, and the unintended release of compressed natural gas can increase the risk of a fire.

Owners should contact McNeilus customer service at 1-888-686-7278 to be notified. The repair is free: an authorized dealer will replace the valve with one from another brand at no cost. You can also check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls.
