Suzuki SX4 Recall 18V804: Power Steering Pump May Seize, Losing Steering Assist

NHTSA campaign 18V804, reported November 14, 2018, 18,673 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The power steering pump in certain vehicles may seize, causing a loss of power steering assist. When this happens, the steering wheel requires extra effort to turn at lower speeds.

A loss of steering assist makes the vehicle harder to control and raises the risk of a crash. Owners should be alert to a sudden increase in steering effort, especially when driving slowly or maneuvering.

The repair is free. Dealers will replace the power steering pump with an improved one at no charge. Contact Suzuki customer service at 1-800-934-0934, and check your VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your vehicle is affected.
