Ford Fusion Recall 18V775: Passenger Airbag May Not Inflate in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 18V775, reported November 1, 2018, 215 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A bracket that holds the passenger airbag inflator to its module housing can deform during a crash that requires the airbag to deploy. When it deforms, gas can leak out, so the airbag may not inflate as intended. This affects vehicles that already received a replacement passenger airbag under an earlier recall.

If the passenger airbag does not inflate properly in a crash, the risk of injury is higher. Owners should not ignore this recall, even though the vehicle may seem to be running normally.

The repair is free. Dealers will replace the passenger airbag module at no cost. Contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332, referencing recall 18S34, and check your VIN for any open recalls.

The repair is normally free at an authorized dealer.
