Mack Granite (Gu) Recall 18V765: Snow plow lights can run without marker and tail lights

NHTSA campaign 18V765, reported October 30, 2018, 755 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2019 heavy-duty trucks equipped with a snow plow lamp kit, the snow plow headlights can be switched on without the marker and tail lights, and the high beam indicator does not work when the plow high beams are on. This means the vehicle can be driven with only the plow lights lit, which fails federal lighting requirements.

With the marker and tail lamps off, the truck is less visible to other drivers, which raises the risk of a crash.

The remedy is free: dealers will update the software that controls the plow lights. Owners will be notified by mail, and you can contact Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177 (recall number SC0414). You can also check your vehicle identification number for any open recalls.
