Toyota 4 Runner Recall 18V753: Wrong weight rating label may lead to overloading

NHTSA campaign 18V753, reported October 25, 2018, 1,295 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2017-2019 Toyota 4Runner vehicles were modified by Southeast Toyota Distributors (SET) with a TRD wheel package. The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) printed on the certification label may be incorrect, so the vehicle could be loaded beyond its safe limit. The vehicles also do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110 for tire selection and rims.

An overloaded vehicle can increase the risk of a crash. Because the label shows the wrong weight limit, an owner may not realize they are exceeding what the vehicle can safely carry.

SET will notify owners and mail corrected certification labels at no cost. Owners can contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226, referencing recall number SET18A. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
