Proterra Catalyst Recall 18V750: Brake caliper guide pin can break, causing loss of braking

NHTSA campaign 18V750, reported October 23, 2018, 62 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain buses have radial air disc brake calipers with a guide pin that may have surface roughness. This roughness can cause the carriage guide pin support bolt to break.

If the guide pin breaks, the bus may lose braking ability or lose tire pressure, which increases the risk of a crash.

The manufacturer will notify owners and replace the calipers on the affected axles at no cost. Owners can contact Proterra customer service at 1-864-438-0000, and you can check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
