Altec Crane Recall 18V708: Crane Display May Show Wrong Load Limits, Risking Tip-Over

NHTSA campaign 18V708, reported October 9, 2018, 146 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The electronic load chart display on these cranes, the Load Moment and Area Protection (LMAP) screen, may show incorrect load chart values. The problem comes from the instrument panel and software that feed this screen.

If an operator relies on a wrong value, the crane could become unstable or the operator could lose control of the load, which raises the risk of serious injury.

Altec will notify owners, and authorized dealers will update the LMAP software as needed. The repair is free of charge. Owners can contact Altec at 1-205-991-7733 and should check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
