Marque Type I Recall 18V602: Brake lights may light up without pedal pressed

NHTSA campaign 18V602, reported September 8, 2018, 459 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2017 Frontline, Marque, McCoy Miller, and Road Rescue ambulances (Type I and Type III) have accessory brake lights that may illuminate even when the brake pedal has not been pressed. This means the vehicle does not meet federal lighting safety requirements.

False brake light signals can confuse other drivers about what your ambulance is doing, which could increase the risk of a crash. Because the lights are supposed to show braking only, other drivers may misjudge your speed or intentions.

The remedy is free. REV will notify owners, and Whelen will replace the brake lights at no cost. Contact REV customer service at 1-855-661-9232 for details, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
