Acura NSX Recall 18V599: High-Mount Brake Light May Stop Working, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 18V599, reported September 7, 2018, 793 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Road vibration can loosen the metal screws that hold the circuit board for the high-mounted center brake light. The loose screws can touch the circuitry, which may blow the brake light fuse and leave the brake lights not working.

Brake lights that do not work increase the risk of a crash, because following drivers may not realize you are slowing or stopping. The affected vehicles also fail to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 for lamps and associated equipment.

Dealers will replace the center high-mount brake light free of charge. Honda will notify owners. You can also contact Acura Client Relations at 1-844-682-2872, and check your VIN for open recalls.
