Trailstar Dump Trailer Recall 18V585: Wheel May Separate From Axle, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 18V585, reported September 8, 2018, 37 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2019 dump trailers may have a locking device on the wheel end nut that was improperly installed. If the locking device is not correctly installed, the wheel can separate from the axle while the trailer is in use.

A wheel separating from the axle can increase the risk of a crash. Owners should stop using the trailer for hauling until the issue is checked, and should not ignore the recall.

The remedy is free. Dealers will inspect the retaining clip on the Pro Torque nuts and properly secure it as needed at no cost to you. Owners can contact Trailstar customer service at 1-330-821-9900 or AXN Heavy Duty at 1-502-882-9122, and can check their VIN for open recalls.
