What this recall means for you
The breakaway safety switch on these recreational trailers may not be wired to a constant power source. As a result, the switch can become disconnected from the trailer house battery, so the trailer brakes may not engage if the trailer separates from the tow vehicle.
If the brakes cannot engage after a detachment, the trailer may roll away uncontrolled, which raises the risk of a crash. Owners should take this recall seriously and arrange the repair promptly.
The repair is free. Dealers will install a new wiring harness that reroutes the wiring. Forest River will notify owners, and you can also contact Forest River customer service at 1-503-831-5410 (recall number 22/30-0824). You can check whether your trailer's VIN has any open recalls and schedule the free repair at an authorized dealer.
