Mack Anthem (An) Recall 18V543: Trailer May Separate From Truck, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 18V543, reported August 16, 2018, 9 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain trucks have a fifth wheel coupling (the connection between the tractor and trailer) fitted with a slider bracket that may be too narrow. This could allow the trailer to separate from the tractor.

If a trailer separates from the tractor, the risk of a crash increases. Owners should take this recall seriously and arrange the inspection promptly.

Mack will notify owners directly. Dealers will inspect the fifth wheel slider bracket and replace it if necessary, free of charge. You can contact Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177, referencing recall number SC0411, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
