Terex C4000 Recall 18V520: Welds May Fail, Letting Auger Drop Unexpectedly

NHTSA campaign 18V520, reported August 7, 2018, 101 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The welds joining the coupler and hex shaft on certain digger derricks may be undersized. If these welds fail, the auger can fall unexpectedly.

A falling auger can increase the risk of injury to the operator or to nearby bystanders. Owners should take this seriously and stop using the affected equipment until the repair is completed.

Terex will notify owners, and authorized dealers will repair the weld or replace the affected component at no cost to you. You can contact Terex customer service at 1-605-882-4000 (recall number SN665), and you can check your vehicle identification number for open recalls.
