What this recall means for you
The occupant classification system in these vehicles may not be properly calibrated. As a result, the front passenger airbag may stay active when a child seat is installed in the front seat.
If a child seat is in the front passenger seat and the airbag is not deactivated, a crash could increase the risk of injury to the child. Owners should check the front passenger airbag status indicator and avoid placing a child seat in the front seat until the repair is completed.
Mercedes-Benz USA will notify owners, and authorized dealers will replace the front passenger seat cushion at no cost. Owners can contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-800-367-6372 and reference recall number 2018120001. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
