Prime Time Crusader Recall 18V490: Placard Overstates Axle Capacity; Overload Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 18V490, reported July 26, 2018, 7 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The Federal Placard on these 2019 fifth-wheel trailers lists the axle weight capacity as 6,000 lbs, but the actual capacity is 5,100 lbs. Following the placard could lead to the axles being overloaded.

An overloaded axle can cause a loss of control while towing and increases the risk of a crash. Owners should not rely on the current placard for load limits until it is replaced.

Forest River will provide replacement Federal Placards free of charge. Owners can contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-862-1025 and reference recall number 48-0801. You can also check your VIN for open recalls on NHTSA's website.
