Suzuki DR-Z400S Recall 18V441: Brake lights may not illuminate, raising crash risk

NHTSA campaign 18V441, reported June 29, 2018, 191 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain motorcycles have a rear brake stop lamp switch where resin filling the switch may have stuck to its internal contacts during assembly. This can keep the brake light from turning on when the brakes are applied.

If the brake lights do not illuminate, following riders and drivers may not realize you are slowing or stopping, which can increase the risk of a crash.

Owners will be notified by Suzuki. Authorized dealers will install a new stop lamp switch assembly free of charge. You can contact Suzuki customer service at 1-800-934-0934 (recall number 2A84), and you should check your VIN for open recalls.
