BMW X3 Recall 18V431: Rear turn signals may show mixed red and amber colors

NHTSA campaign 18V431, reported June 21, 2018, 5 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain vehicles, the rear turn signal lights on the outer side panel may glow red while the inner turn signals glow amber at the same time. This means the lights do not meet federal lighting standards.

Turn signals that flash more than one color can confuse other drivers about which way you are turning or changing lanes, which raises the risk of a crash.

The repair is free. Dealers will inspect the rear turn signal lights and replace them if needed. BMW will notify owners, or you can contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
